The TALOS project, presented by Eureka System and Elif Lab, has been awarded in the Horizon Europe EARASHI 2nd Open Call.
TALOS, an acronym for Transformable Adaptive Lines Optimised System, is a project that will transform the European manufacturing sector by exploiting a combination of Autonomously Guided Mobile Robots (AMR) and Artificial Intelligence.
TALOS is a manufacturing solution that aims to optimise traditional assembly operations by making lines more dynamic and flexible. The project will replace fixed workstations with mobile workbenches operated by a fleet of autonomously guided mobile robots. Part of TALOS’ innovative approach will be to optimise operations by dynamically planning the movements of the AMR fleet through the use of advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence.
The Partners
Established in 2004, EUREKA SYSTEM is a technological company based in Treviso, Italy.
It began as a system integrator and today it specializes in tailor-made solutions for industrial automated systems, developing projects for multinational companies and SMEs.
The company has 25 employees, including 17 developers and technical professionals, with expertise in OT for Automation, Robotics, and Data. Over the years the company expanded its target market (from Wood, Steel and Food, to companies operating in the Automotive, Logistics, Chemical, Pharmaceutical and Naval industries) and its technological offer in terms of OT solutions, services, and technologies in the automation and robotics field. The company mission is to innovate manufacturing processes while preserving their unique characteristics or special features.
Its most recent Business Unit is Mobile Robotics with the new Autonomous Mobile Robot Helko. It is precisely Helko, the autonomous mobile robot that serves as a powerful truck for towing carts and workbenches weighing up to 250kg.s, that will be at the heart of the TALOS project, thanks to its innovative lateral coupling mechanism, a unique feature in the global Autonomous Mobile Robot landscape.
Elif Lab will apply its established expertise in artificial intelligence and mobile robotics to optimise process planning, movements and speed of robots/workbenches. Through artificial intelligence, TALOS will thus be able to tackle operations management with an agile and adaptive approach. The algorithmic system developed will integrate with NAVARCO, Eureka System’s mobile robot fleet management software.
Together, our complementary skills will allow us to offer a unique and advanced solution for the manufacturing sector. Each traditional line station will be able to be replaced with a mobile workbench driven by an AMR, creating an easily reconfigurable system that will allow companies to dynamically manage the production of fragmented batches.
